Founded in 1935 in Mexico City’s Centro Histórico, El Moro is Mexico’s original churrería, recognized for its spiral-shaped churros, rich hot chocolate, and nearly a century of cultural legacy. Still family-owned and operated by the Iriarte family, El Moro has become a culinary landmark rooted in simplicity, ritual, and craft. In 2023, El Moro opened its first U.S. location in Costa Mesa, California, and in 2025 expands further with the debut of its first Los Angeles flagship in Echo Park.
