POSITION TITLE: Pharmacy Clerk
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Store Manager
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time


Position Summary:

The Pharmacy Clerk is a key member of the pharmacy team responsible for delivering excellent customer service both in-person and over the phone, accurately handling transactions, supporting pharmacy operations, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace. This role involves interacting with customers, assisting in the front-end retail area, supporting prescription fulfillment, and participating in shipping, receiving, and production-related tasks. The Pharmacy Clerk is also expected to continually expand knowledge in over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and durable medical equipment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist pharmacy customers in a courteous and professional manner, both in-person and over the phone.

  • Answer incoming calls promptly and provide accurate information or route calls appropriately.

  • Handle cash and charge transactions accurately using computer systems.

  • Process prescription pickups at the register.

  • Prepare and mail prescriptions accurately and on time.

  • Maintain patient records and ensure data accuracy.

  • Call customers for medication reminders, follow-ups, and other pharmacy-related communications.

  • Order and manage front-end inventory, including over-the-counter products and supplies.

  • Maintain cleanliness of the pharmacy by mopping, dusting, and general tidying.

  • Support shipping and receiving departments.

  • Assist in pre-production tasks and pharmacy support activities as needed.

  • Expand knowledge of vitamins, supplements, OTC items, and medical equipment.

  • Ensure customers feel welcomed, informed, and supported in every interaction.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

  • Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills, including over the phone.

  • Customer service experience preferred.

  • Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.

  • High initiative and a proactive, self-starting attitude.

  • Reliable, approachable, and motivated to deliver results.

  • Visual acuity required for close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Work environment noise level is typically moderate.
