Cal Domestic Water announces Lynda Noriega as new President

Whittier, California — The California Domestic Water Company (Cal Domestic) Board of Directors announced today that Lynda Noriega will become Cal Domestic’s President beginning January 1, 2018. Ms. Noriega, the Company’s Vice President/General Manager, has served in the water industry for more than 15 years.

“Lynda brings a depth of experience to lead Cal Domestic and serve our shareholders,” said Richard D. Jones, Chairman of the Cal Domestic Board of Directors.

Ms. Noriega began her career in water in 2001 with Valley County Water District, a retail water district based in Baldwin Park, CA. She served as Operations Assistant, Water Quality Specialist, Finance & Administrative Manager and Interim General Manager prior to her appointment as General Manager in 2011. In 2016, Ms. Noriega was hired as the Vice President/General Manager of Cal Domestic.

“Cal Domestic remains focused on enhancing water resource management to provide our shareholders with a reliable and high-quality water supply,” Ms. Noriega said. “As President, I am excited about the opportunity to further this mission.”

Ms. Noriega replaces Jim Byerrum who will be retiring in June 2018 following a career with Cal Domestic that spans more than three decades. In addition to steering Cal Domestic toward a sustainable water future, Mr. Byerrum has also led regional and statewide projects to address drought conditions and stabilize groundwater elevations. Through his work with high-ranking water officials and the California State Legislature, Mr. Byerrum guided students at Sonora High School in La Habra toward legislation, signed this year by Governor Brown, to encourage water conservation collaboration between K-12 schools statewide and water purveyors.

“We are grateful for Jim’s dedication and service to Cal Domestic, and the greater region,” Ms. Noriega said. “On behalf of everyone at Cal Domestic, I extend our deepest appreciation for his leadership.”

Ms. Noriega holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from California State University at Fullerton. She serves on the Board of Directors for the San Gabriel Valley Water Association and Mujeres de la Tierra, an environmental advocacy nonprofit based in Los Angeles. Ms. Noriega is happily married to George and has two children, Damien and Audrey.

Cal Domestic, based in Whittier, CA, is a mutual water company that provides potable water for about 222,000 people in Whittier, La Mirada, La Habra and Brea through Suburban Water Systems, the City of La Habra and the City of Brea, who are the three major shareholders of the company.
